Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:

Jesse Cyr, 47, of 157 Ward St., Naugatuck, was charged Nov. 19 with illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, illegal operation of motor vehicle without minimum insurance and failure to obey stop sign.

Police reported on Nov. 19 at approximately 7 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in which the accused was determined to be operating under the influence of alcohol. The accused was released on a $1,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 17.

Antonio Rene Benitez Jr., 39, of 47 Winter St., Ansonia, was charged Nov. 20 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Nov. 19 at 10:43 p.m. officers were dispatched to a location in Naugatuck for a domestic dispute that recently occurred. Through investigation, police reported, it was learned the accused was in a physical altercation with the victim over keys to a vehicle. Police reported the victim suffered wounds to her hands and in return, the accused left the scene. Police reported the accused was found soon thereafter in Ansonia. The accused was the transported from Ansonia to the Naugatuck Police Department for booking. The accused was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 20.

Alexis F. Vargas, 35, of 435 Halfway House Road, Windsor Locks, was charged Nov. 20 with possession of controlled substance or more than half ounce of cannabis, illegal possession of weapon in motor vehicle, illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension, failure to display plates/inserts and improper use of marker, license or registration.

Police reported on Nov. 20 at approximately 9:17 p.m. Naugatuck police stopped a car in the area of North Main Street. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, the accused was found to be operating a vehicle with a revoked registration and a misused registration plate. Police reported the accused was also found to be in possession of several bags of heroin in addition to weapons being located in the vehicle. The accused was released on a $2,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 6.

Martin Anthony Santulli, 33, of 76 Cotswold Way, Avon, was charged Nov. 21 with third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Nov. 21 at approximately 2 a.m. officers were dispatched to an address in Naugatuck for the report of an active physical domestic. Upon arrival, police reported, officers met with the victim, who stated the accused had hit the victim and has been shoving her around. Police reported the accused was on scene and appeared to be extremely intoxicated. After further investigation, police reported, the accused was placed under arrest and transported to the Naugatuck Police Department for processing. The accused was released a $5,000 non-surety bond to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 23.

Patrick Edward Cooper, 71, of 68 Nancy Lane, Naugatuck, was charged Nov. 22 with illegal dumping.

Police reported on Nov. 22 at 6:02 p.m. officers responded to an illegal dumping of couches complaint in the parking lot of McDonald’s at 751 New Haven Road. Through further investigation, police reported, officers determined a suspect involved in the illegal dumping. Police reported officers identified the accused and issued the accused a misdemeanor summons. The accused was given a promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 13.

Ryan Zadravecz, 30, of 7 B St., Derby, was charged Nov. 23 with two counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Nov. 23 at 5:15 a.m. the accused arrived to the Naugatuck Police Department to turn himself in on active warrants for his arrest. Police reported the warrants were issued when the accused failed to appear in court for an incident that occurred in early 2019. The accused was held on bonds totaling $2,000 and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 23.

Anthony R. Sullivan, 39, of 496 Prospect St., Naugatuck, was charged Nov. 24 with possession of controlled substance or more than half ounce of cannabis.

Police reported on Nov. 24 the accused was observed engaging in a narcotics transaction in the Auto Zone parking lot, 72 Bridge St. Police reported officers detained the accused and he was found to be in possession of heroin. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 8.

Jacob David Yourison, 26, of 279 Wedgewood Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Nov. 24 with illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to drive in proper lane.

Police reported on Nov. 24 at approximately 9:48 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 297 North Hoadley St. for a motor vehicle accident involving a telephone pole. During the investigation, police reported, the accused was determined to be operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 7.

Tracy Byrd Hinnant, 48, of 77 Cherry St., Naugatuck, was charged Nov. 25 with risk of injury to child, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Nov. 25 officers were dispatched to a residence in Naugatuck for a domestic dispute. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined the accused threatened the victim with a knife during a verbal argument, while a juvenile was present. The accused was released on a $500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 27.

Cassandra Mae Burnop, 19, of 265 Scott St., Naugatuck, was charged Nov. 25 with illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to drive in proper lane.

Police reported on Nov. 25 at 10:30 p.m. the Naugatuck Police Department received a call from an off duty officer who was reporting an erratic driver. Police reported officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle and identify the accused as the operator. Through investigation, police reported, officers were able to determine the accused was operating while under the influence. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 10.

Christopher Sheppard, 58, of 111 Maple St., Seymour, was charged Nov. 27 with evading responsibility-injury/property damage.

Police reported on Nov. 27 the accused turned himself in on an arrest warrant stemming from an evading accident which occurred on Nov. 19 on New Haven Road. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 23.

Demetrius Dolorian Keels, 22, of 8 Saint Paul St., Waterbury, was charged Nov. 28 with sale of illegal drugs and possession of controlled substance or more than half ounce of cannabis.

George Michael Swinton, 48, of 115 Wedgewood St., Waterbury, was charged Nov. 28 with illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (2nd offense), improper rear/marker lamps and operating a motor vehicle without license.

Police reported on Nov. 28 at 1:26 a.m. officers observed a vehicle traveling east on Bridge Street with its tail lamps not illuminated. Police reported a motor vehicle stop was conducted and through the course of the investigation the accused was found to be operating while under the influence of alcohol. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 17.

Carlos Caracas, 62, of 172 City Hill St., Naugatuck, was charged Nov. 28 with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Nov. 28 at approximately 2:50 a.m. officers were dispatched to a Naugatuck residence for the report of a possible domestic dispute. Through the officers’ investigation, police reported, it was determined the accused was involved in an argument with the victim while intoxicated. Police reported the accused struck the victim in the head with his fist and grabbed the victim by her hair before police were called. Police reported the victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention. The accused was released after posting a $10,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 30.

Roman G. Koffman, 36, of 32 Peach Drive, Seymour, was charged Nov. 28 with sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on Nov. 28 at approximately 2:57 p.m. officers were dispatched to Walmart on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused exit the store without paying for $108.69 worth of merchandise. The accused was released on a promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 30.

Kiara Marie Buscaino, 19, of 32 Peach Drive, Seymour, was charged Nov. 28 with second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Nov. 28 officers were dispatched to Walmart for an incident. While investigating, police reported, it was determined the accused had a PRAWN warrant from missing a court date for an incident that happened in New Britain. The accused was released on a $500 cash bond and scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Nov. 30.

Miguel Montalvo, 45, of 189 Willow St., Waterbury, was charged Nov. 28 with illegal discharge of firearm, second-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief.

Police reported on Nov. 28 at approximately 8:10 p.m. police were dispatched to a residence for a report of a BB gun that was shot at a window, breaking the window. Through an investigation, police reported, it was learned the accused was playing with and shooting the BB gun, when he shot the upstairs’ window, breaking the glass. Police reported the accused had then left the scene. The accused was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 23.

Brandon Silva, 38, of 104 Delaware Ave., Waterbury, was charged Nov. 29 with illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and traveling unreasonably fast.

Police reported on Nov. 29 at 1:28 a.m. officers observed a vehicle traveling north on North Church Street at a high rate of speed. Police reported a motor vehicle stop was conducted and through the course of investigation, the accused was found to be operating while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 17.
