Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:

Latasha M. Smith, 28, of 203 William St., Glastonbury, was charged May 6 with two counts of sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on May 6 the accused was arrested on outstanding arrest warrants stemming from larceny incidents that occurred on Jan. 31 2019 and Feb. 7, 2019. The accused was released on a promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 15.

John Mark Mortensen, 51, of 71 May Ave., Naugatuck, was charged May 6 with second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on May 6 the accused was arrested on an active failure to appear (PRAWN) arrest warrant. The accused was held and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 6.

Cindy Lugo, 34, of 10 Aetna St., Naugatuck, was charged May 6 with two counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on May 6 the accused was arrested on an active failure to appear (PRAWN) arrest warrants. The accused was released on surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 15.

Robert George Kackowski, 56, of 5726 126th Ave. N., Clearwater, Fla., was charged May 7 with sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on May 7 officers were dispatched to the Mountview Liquors at 727 Rubber Ave. on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Police reported store employees advised that they observed the accused conceal merchandise totaling less than $500 and exit the store without paying for the item. The accused was released on a promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court at a later date.

Yasmin Rodriguez, 29, of 324 Knollwood Circle, Waterbury, was charged May 7 with sixth-degree larceny, first-degree criminal trespass and possession of controlled substance or more than half-ounce of cannabis.

Police reported on May 7 officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused illegally conceal less than $500 worth of merchandise and exit the store without paying for the items. Police reported the accused was found in possession of controlled substance, and had previously been banned from the property. The accused was released on $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 15.

John Lesser, 37, of 607 Millville Ave Apt. 7-10, Naugatuck, was charged May 7 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on May 7 at approximately 8:36 p.m. officers responded to a residence on a report of a domestic dispute. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation that the accused became involved in an argument with the victim that escalated and became physical when, according to the victim, the accused pushed the victim several times. The accused was released on $1,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 8.

Luis Castro, 60, of 92 Cold Spring Circle, Naugatuck, was charged May 8 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on May 8 at approximately 12:44 p.m. officers responded to a residence on a report of a domestic dispute. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation that the accused became involved in an argument with the victim that escalated and became physical when, according to the victim, the accused hit the victim in the forehead with his fist. The accused was released on promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 9.

Matthew James Morrell, 29, of 111 Chestnut Grove Road, Watertown, was charged May with sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on May 9 at approximately 1:37 a.m. officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused illegally conceal $201 worth of merchandise and exit the store without paying for items. The accused was held on $500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 9.

Chris Gale Clark, 39, of 104 South St., Waterbury, was charged May 9 with sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer/resisting.

Police reported on May 9 at approximately 1:37 a.m. officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused illegally conceal $201 worth of merchandise and exit the store without paying for items. Police reported the accused also interfered with the officer’s investigation by refusing to stop and fled the scene. The accused was held on $500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 9.

Shane A. Cass, 24, of 59 Emile Ave., Oakville, was charged May 10 with two counts of possession of controlled substance or more than half-ounce of cannabis.

Police reported on May 10 at approximately 12:39 a.m. an officer initiated a motor vehicle investigation in the area of Maple Street. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, the accused was found to be operating a motor vehicle in possession of a controlled substance. The accused was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 22.

Marquis Williams, 42, of 215 Jaffrey St., West Haven, was charged May 10 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused illegally conceal less than $500 worth of merchandise and exit the store without paying for items. The accused was released on $2,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 22.

Dara L. Morrison, 38, of 90 Willis St., New Haven, was charged May 10 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused illegally conceal less than $500 worth of merchandise and exit the store without paying for items. The accused was released on $2,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 22.

Nicolas Laroche-Donovan, 29, of 30 Hosier Road, Sharon, was charged May 10 with sixth-degree larceny and illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension.

Police reported on May 10 the accused was arrested on an active arrest warrant. The warrant stemmed from a shoplifting incident that occurred on Feb. 25, 2019 from the Big Y Supermarket at 85 Bridge St. Police reported the accused also fled the scene while operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 22.

Ifeyinwa Monde Adaora Mbanefo, 18, of 411 University Ave., Bridgeport, was charged May 10 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Updated: Mbanefo completed three days of community service in June and the charges against her were dismissed in June.

Marly Redjina Brisa, 20, of 118-69 Montauk St., Saint Albins, N.Y., was charged May 10 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused illegally conceal $308.70 worth of merchandise and exit the store without paying for items. The accused was released on $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 22.

Updated: Brisa completed three days of community service, two in August and one in September, and the charges against her were dismissed in September.

Mya Sharisse Baldiwn, 20, of 630 Mix Ave. Unit 3E, Hamden, was charged May 10 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Marissa Meghan Mauro, 33, of 12 Orange St., Waterbury, was charged May 11 with four counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on May 11 the accused was arrested on active failure to appear arrest warrants. The accused was held on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 13.

Tyler John Valletta, 25, of 43 Newfield Ave. Apt. 12, Waterbury, was charged May 12 with driving under the influence.

Police reported on May 12 at approximately 1:55 a.m. an officer initiated a motor vehicle investigation in the area of 305 Church St. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, the accused was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs in which he failed to operate his motor vehicle in the proper lane. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 23.

Raul Lima, 46, of 142 High St., Naugatuck, was charged May 12 with sixth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass.

Police reported on May 12 at approximately 10:15 p.m. officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed the accused illegally conceal $76.63 worth of merchandise and exit the store without paying for items. The accused had also previously been banned from the property, police reported. The accused was held on $2,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 22.
