Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:

Marissa Kristen Woodsworth, 19, of 385 Bradbury St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 6 with interfering with an officer and second-degree false incident report.

Police reported Woodsworth was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant that stemmed from an incident on Jan. 24, 2019 in which Woodsworth falsely reported that during the course of an altercation she witnessed between two males one of the males was stabbed. Police reported Woodsworth then assisted one of the males with fleeing the scene all the while withholding his true location while saying that the male was suffering from life-threatening injuries from a stabbing. When police eventually did locate the male, police reported, police learned that he was never stabbed, and that Woodsworth intentionally provided false information to try to mislead police from charging the male for the altercation. Woodsworth was given a court date of Jan. 20.

Emmett William Dalton, 29, of Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 6 with second-degree breach of peace and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported Dalton was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant that stemmed from an incident on Jan. 24, 2019 in which Dalton was involved in a physical altercation outside a residence on Bradbury Street. During the course of taking Dalton into custody, police reported, arresting officers discovered drug paraphernalia on Dalton. Dalton was held on bond pending his appearance at Waterbury Superior Court.

Martin Corbett, 19, of 153 Pondview Circle, Beacon Falls, was charged Feb. 6 with second-degree breach of peace.

Police reported Corbett voluntarily surrendered on an outstanding arrest warrant that stemmed from an incident on Jan. 24, 2019 in which Corbett was involved in a physical altercation outside a residence on Bradbury Street. Corbett was released on bond pending his appearance at Waterbury Superior Court.

Johnathan Figueroa, 28, of 933 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 7 with first-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace and driving under the influence.

Police reported on Feb. 6 at 11:50 p.m. Naugatuck police were dispatched to Santos Restaurant on Church Street for a fight in which Figueroa was reported to have threatened to have a firearm. Police initiated a traffic stop on Figueroa a short distance on Maple Street. Through an investigation, police reported, it was learned that Figueroa had punched another patron. After being told to leave the bar, police reported, Figueroa returned while threatening to shoot patrons and gesturing with his hands that he was carrying a pistol. Police reported Figueroa was also found to be operating under the influence during the traffic stop and charged as such. The investigation did not recover a firearm, police reported. Figueroa was released on bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 20.

Christopher R. Matos, 30, of 154 Kensington Ave., New Britain, was charged Feb. 8 with third-degree forgery and third-degree larceny.

Police reported on Feb. 8 Matos was arrested on an active arrest warrant at Waterbury Superior Court. Police reported the warrant was from an incident where Matos cashed fraudulent checks for cash at Ion Bank belonging to Asphalt Repair Solution on or about Sept. 26, 2018. Matos was held to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 8.

Anthony Thompson, 45, of 174 West Morningside St., East Hartford, was charged Feb. 8 with fifth-degree larceny.

Police reported on Feb. 8 Thompson was arrested on an active arrest warrant at Waterbury Superior Court. Police reported the warrant was from an incident where Thompson stole multiple items from Walmart on Sept. 15, 2018. Thompson was held to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 8.

Monica A. Miller, 31, of 17 Mulberry St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 8 with second-degree failure to appear, first-degree failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported on Feb. 8 Miller was arrested on a suspicious person complaint at a residence. Police reported Miller was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, and had failure to appear warrants. Miller was held on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 11.

Kevin Mandla Morse, 18, of 206 North Hoadley St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 8 with evading responsibility.

Police reported on Feb. 8 at approximately 4:37 p.m. officers responded to the area of 81 Birch Lane for an evading motor vehicle accident. Police reported Morse struck a parked vehicle in the area and fled the scene. The officer located Morse’s vehicle at 206 North Hoadley St. after following the trail of coolant fluid that was dripping from the vehicle, police said. Morse was released on promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 21.

Christopher Terry, 27, of 353 Highland Ave., Waterbury, was charged Feb. 8 with possession of controlled substance.

Police reported on Feb. 8 Terry was arrested on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was from an incident where Terry was in possession of marijuana, police reported. Terry was released on a $2,500 surety bond to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 22.

Melissa H. Knapp, 43, of 69 May St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 8 with false statement, sixth-degree larceny and third-degree forgery.

Police reported on Feb. 8 Knapp was arrested on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was from a fraud incident that was reported to Naugatuck police on Aug. 16, 2018. Police reported Knapp forged/cashed a check that did not belong to her and gave officers a sworn false statement. Knapp was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of Feb. 20 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court.

Jonathan David Rojas, 30, of 222 Bradley Ave., Waterbury, was charged Feb. 9 with driving under the influence.

Police reported Rojas was observed on Rubber Avenue without headlights and a traffic stop was initiated. During the course of the traffic stop, police reported, officers suspected Rojas was operating under the influence and administered sobriety tests which Rojas failed to perform to standard. Rojas was taken into custody for DUI and released on a $500 bond pending his appearance at Waterbury Superior Court.

Matthew Demers, 33, of 70 Olive St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 9 with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported on Feb. 9 at approximately 4:56 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 70 Olive St. for a suspicious person/vehicle report. Police reported Demers was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and found to be in possession of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Demers was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 22.

Anajai Mtume, 19, of 56 Lewis St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 10 with possession of controlled substance and illegal possession of weapon in a motor vehicle.

During the course of investigating a traffic stop for tail light out, police reported, police found Mtume to be in possession of marijuana and also a lookalike BB gun in close proximity to Mtume inside the vehicle. Mtume was released on bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 27.

Joequan Travon White, 19, of 46 Sharon Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 10 with possession of controlled substance and illegal possession of weapon in a motor vehicle.

During the course of investigating a traffic stop for tail light out, police reported, police found White to be in possession of marijuana and also a lookalike BB gun in close proximity to White inside the vehicle. White was released on bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 21.

George Shimakonis, 59, of 57 Walnut St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 10 with driving under the influence.

Police reported police initiated a traffic stop after observing Shimakonis fail to obey a traffic signal. Police reported Shimakonis was administered standardized field sobriety tests after the officer suspected Shimakonis was operating under the influence. Shimakonis was taken into custody after failing to perform to the standard, police reported. Shimakonis was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 21.

Johnathan Stephen Salvestrini, 37, of 26 Woodside Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 10 with driving under the influence.

Police reported Naugatuck police investigated a suspicious vehicle with an unconscious occupant at Ion Bank, 87 Church St. Police suspected Salvestrini to be under the influence and administered sobriety tests, which Salvestrini failed to perform to standard, police reported. Salvestrini was subsequently taken into custody, charged with DUI and released on bond to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 22.

Susan Charles, 41, was charged Feb. 10 with disorderly conduct, risk of injury to child, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault.

Police reported on Feb. 10 officers responded to a disturbance at a residence. Police reported Charles became involved in a verbal argument with the victims that escalated physically. Charles was released on a $2,000 surety bond and given a court date to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 11.

Gregg Dojnia, 30, of 94 Irving St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 10 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Feb. 10 at approximately 11:13 a.m. officers responded to a residence on a report of a domestic dispute. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation that Dojnia became involved in an argument with the victim that escalated and became physical when, according to the victim, Dojnia pushed the victim making her fall to the floor. Dojnia was released on $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 11.

Elvin J. Grullon-Peguero, 33, of 30 Fountain Terrace, New Haven, was charged Feb. 10 with two counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Feb. 10 the accused was arrested on active failure to appear arrest warrants Grullon-Peguero was released on surety bond and scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Feb. 18 and Derby Superior Court on Feb. 25.

Jamesy Codrington, 41, of 47 Fawn Meadow Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 11 with second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Feb. 11 Codrington was arrested on an active failure to appear arrest warrant. Codrington was released on a $495 cash bond and scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Feb. 21.

Gregg L. Wallace, 24, of 3 Buritt Place, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 11 with interfering with an officer.

Police reported on Feb. 11 Wallace was arrested on an active arrest warrant at Waterbury Superior Court. Police reported the warrant was from an incident where Wallace interfered with an investigation on Jan. 26, 2019. Wallace held to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 11.

Augusto M. Sousa, 59, of 687 Beacon Valley Road, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 11 with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer.

Police reported on Feb. 11 at approximately 7:45 p.m. officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute. It was discovered through the investigation, police reported, that Sousa became involved in an argument with the victims that escalated. Sousa was held on a $500 surety bond to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 13.

Tierra Bonacassio, 37, of 24 Greenwood St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 12 with failure to respond to infraction.

During the course of a traffic stop, police reported, police learned Bonacassio had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to respond to an infraction. Bonacassio was released on bond pending her appearance at Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 20.

Roger B. Sherwood, 55, of Marcy, N.Y., was charged Feb. 12 with illegal possession of weapon in a vehicle, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported on Feb. 12 at approximately 4:45 a.m. an officer initiated a motor vehicle investigation in the Crosspointe Plaza at 799 New Haven Road. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, Sherwood was found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, and also having a weapon in a motor vehicle during the stop. Sherwood was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 27.

Luz Evelyn Martinez, 46, of 156 Plaza Ave., Waterbury, was charged Feb. 12 with illegal possession of weapon in a vehicle, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported on Feb. 12 at approximately 4:45 a.m. an officer initiated a motor vehicle investigation in the Crosspointe Plaza at 799 New Haven Road. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, Martinez was found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, and also having a weapon in a motor vehicle during the stop.
