NAUGATUCK — William Kevin Edwards, 69, of Naugatuck, passed away on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at Complete Care at Glendale.

Bill was born on March 16, 1953 in Bridgeport, one of five children of the late Natalie (Card) and Warren Edwards. Bill was a loving husband to Rosa (Ribas) Edwards, his wife of 42 years. Together they shared a lifetime of good memories and created a beautiful family tree.

They exemplified The American Dream, cultivating children who would grow to become successful men with good wives, who would then bless them with bundles of joy called grandchildren.

Bill was the best Dad, or “Pops,” as his three boys began calling him as they aged. Bill loved his boys with an “old-school” style relationship[–]there were minimal hugs and kisses but plenty of fist bumps that communicated the same message of a strong mutual love.

Bill provided all the security, opportunity, compassion and positive examples that three boys need from a father. Simply put, there was no better father.

Bill, or “Papa,” was adored by his six grandkids. He was a silly and playful participant in any games or activities they chose. He loved his grandchildren unconditionally and in return, they blessed his soul with much-needed joy as he battled against disease the last six years of his life.

Papa’s time with his grandchildren was too short, but he can rest assured knowing he supplied them with eternal love and memories.

Bill filled many roles throughout his lifetime and did so to the great benefit of all the people surrounding him. He was a dependable and kind sibling, and his accomplishments in life surely made his mother and father proud of him while they were alive, and after as they looked down on him from the skies above.

For 31 years Bill was a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier at the Monroe Post Office. Bill was a true fisherman at heart and fishing was his greatest passion. He woke up earlier on his days off to go fishing than he would on his days working! Bill would make an annual weeklong trip to go salmon fishing in upstate New York with his buddies.

Bill was also a huge fan of the New York Giants, Mets, Knicks, and UConn. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends and watching movies/shows with his family.

Bill bought many scratch-off lottery tickets hoping he could hit the big one. Bill never did hit that big winning ticket, but his family/friends won that lottery every day having had Bill in their lives.

Rest in Peace Bill.
