NAUGATUCK — William J. Hammac, age 71, beloved husband of Linda (Dalia) Hammac, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Nov. 17, 1951, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Russo) Hammac. He was a graduate of Porter and Chester Technical School and had lived in Naugatuck since 1985. Bill retired as a technician from Neeltran Inc., and had also worked as an iron worker.
He enjoyed music, golf, playing pool, and was an avid Harley-Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast. He served his country in the United States Marines. William lived his life putting family and friends first, and loved spending time with his granddaughter Ella.
In addition to his wife Linda of 52 years, Bill leaves his family, William Hammac and his wife Joanne of Waterbury, Brian Hammac and Dionna Strumpf of Naugatuck, and Blair Hammac; his two grandchildren, Ella Hammac and Cameron Bell; his sisters, Janice Rice of Beacon Falls, and Rose Deegan of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Erin Hammac; and his siblings, Gloria, Dennis and James Hammac.
Visitation was to be on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 N. Main St. in Naugatuck. A funeral service was to begin at 5:30 p.m.
