NAUGATUCK — Robert Frank “Bobby” Magnamo Jr., 62, passed away into God’s eternal care on Sept. 4, 2022.

Robert was born April 9, 1960, and raised in Naugatuck. Upon his graduation in 1978 from Naugatuck High School, Robert raised a family and worked his way up at Boehringer Ingelheim for the next 25 years.

Robert was known for his fighting spirit, he never gave up battling, which allowed him to stay at his family’s side for an additional 15 years. Nothing ever stopped Robert.

He was a devoted son, father and grandfather who is survived by his parents, Robert and Helen Magnamo of Naugatuck, and his sister, Dianne Couture of Waterbury. He also leaves behind his children, Sarah Lafo and husband, Tyler, of Watertown; a son, David Magnamo and fiancé, Teirryn, of Oakville; his three grandchildren, who meant the world to him, Elizabeth Jane, Stella Grace and Noah Frank; and his uncle and aunt, Joe Magnamo of Naugatuck, and MaryAnn Szwei of Jim Thorpe, Penn.; his niece, Amanda; his nephew, Steve; and many cousins. Robert was predeceased by his sister, Kathy Kim Magnamo, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Magnamo and Mr. and Mrs. Hipolite Klimaszewski.

If Robert taught us anything, it was that family comes first. He loved Sunday dinners, listening to music, especially the Beatles, and playing on the floor with his grandkids. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, the New York Jets, and yelling at the TV each time the New York Jets lost.

Per Robert’s wishes, all services will be private and have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.

In lieu of flowers, and to honor Robert’s memory, donations can be made to the college fund of Robert’s three grandchildren, in care of Sarah Lafo, 746 Hamilton Ave., Watertown, 06795.
