NORTH HAVEN — Edmund Wienczkowski, 91 of North Haven, beloved husband of the late Olga Cymbala Wienczkowski, died peacefully on May 5, 2013 at the Regency House Health Care Center, Wallingford. Born in Nanticoke, Pa., on March 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Frank and Pauline Lizbarska Wienczkowski.

Mr. Wienczkowski was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a resident of Beacon Falls of approximately 24 years before moving to North Haven in 1974. He worked as an upholsterer at Elmwood Upholstery of New Haven where he learned the trade and helped many friends and family members reupholster their furniture. Mr. Wienczkowski then worked as a postal clerk for over 30 years in the New Haven Post Office, until the time of his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Postal Workers Union, NARFE and a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Ann Tilden and cherished grandson, Gregory Tilden of North Haven as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service, meeting directly at church, will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Interment with military honors will be in Three Saints Cemetery, Seymour. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia is in care of arrangements.
