He was born July 5, 1925 to Harry Bird and Florence (Hawksley) Bird of Easton, Maine. Winston was a Navy Veteran who served on the U.S.S. Pinnacle.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Elaine Bird, his parents, nine siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by: a son Timothy Bird and wife Janice; daughters, Karen Nittsche and husband Stephen, Beverly Mierzejewski and husband Paul, Monica DaSilva and Tom Coyne; grandchildren, Krystine “Tina” Schoen Grawunder and husband Richard, Jennifer Schoen Stansbury and husband Gary, Curtiss Schoen and wife Jenny, Kiera DaSilva, Daniel DaSilva, Elyza-Beth Bird, Hilton Nittsche; great-grandchildren, Christian Grawunder, Avarie Stansbury, Jacob Stansbury and baby Maci Warzecha; nieces, Betty Vernon and Nancy Lupo; a beloved friend, Ethel Nittsche.
Services for Winston Blake Bird will be at 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at Prospect Congregational Church. Burial will follow at Middlebury Cemetery, Middlebury.
