Obituary: William Richard “Dick” Kirklin

NAUGATUCK — Mr. William Richard “Dick” Kirklin, age 90, of 44 Patricia Lane, died Friday, March 11 at the Glendale Center in Naugatuck. He was the widower of Julianne (Ross) Kirklin.

Mr. Kirklin was born in Muncie, Ind. on March 15, 1920 son of the late Curtis and Fern (Smith) Kirklin. He was retired from the Varior Companies where he worked as an industrial engineer for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a member of the D.A.V., the V.F.W. Post 1946 in Naugatuck, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Retired Mens Club.

Mr. Kirklin is survived by four sons: Dan Kirklin of Indiana, Bill Kirklin of Indiana, John Kirklin of California and Tom Kirklin of California, two daughters: Julie Stassi of Monroe and Suzanne Conklin of Naugatuck, a sister: Ruth Tesar of New York, several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters: Mary Alice Early and Martha Carter.

Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
