WEST HAVEN — William Joseph Cristello, 87, formerly of Naugatuck, passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Anna (Dell’Anno) Cristello.
William was born on Jan.12, 1924 in Naugatuck a son of the late Gabriel and Mary (Canapari) Cristello. He was retired from Timex Corp in Middlebury where he worked as a foreman for many years. He was an U. S. Army veteran having served in WWII. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Waterbury and the V.F.W. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting, he also enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles and gardening.
Besides his wife of West Haven he is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann DeMaria and her husband William of Millbury, Mass.; his son, Gabriel Cristello and his partner Steven Juliver of Tucson, Ariz.; and one grandson, William Gabriel DeMaria.
He was predeceased by one son, Gabriele Cristello.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug.24, at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
