William J. Wasilus

GOSHEN — William J. Wasilus, 99, of 329 Beach St., formerly of Beacon Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Rosehaven Health Center in Litchfield. He was widower of Hedwig T. (Bozenski) Wasilus.

Mr. Wasilus was born and raised in Union City on Feb. 27, 1912, son of the late John and Katrina Wasilus. He was a longtime resident of Beacon Falls during his married life and a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. He lived in Goshen for the last six years with his daughter. He retired from the Synthetic Chemical Division of Uniroyal, Inc. after many years of service. William enjoyed golfing, fishing, the outdoors and taking long walks in Beacon Falls and Goshen with the family dog.

He leaves his son, William F. Wasilus and wife Susan of Bantam; his daughter, Linnea Garvey and husband Dave of Goshen; four grandchildren, David Garvey and wife Silvana of Southington, Karen Mariotti and husband Gary of Litchfield, Jennifer Sgrott and husband Marcelo of Bantam, Lyndsay Wasilus of Bantam; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Isabella Garvey, Lauren and Emily Mariotti, and Aviana Sgrott; several nieces and nephew.

He was predeceased by a brother, Victor Wasilus; a sister, Alice Witkoski.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Route 63, Goshen. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck is assisting the family with arrangements.
