HARTFORD, Kan. – William H. “Bill” Peterson, 78, of Hartford, Kan., passed away Saturday Feb. 19 at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington Kansas. He was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Waterbury the son of Frank and Ann (Stickles) Peterson.
He grew up in Woodbury CT, attended Woodbury schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned to Connecticut where he lived until 1972, before moving to Wichita, and upon his retirement, to Hartford, Kan.
He leaves his wife Reba; a son, Michael Peterson and his wife Alayne of Wichita Kan.; a daughter, Kathy and her husband Gary Vitiello of Watertown; a son, Rick of Naugatuck, and a granddaughter Alyson Vitiello of Los Angeles, Calif. He also leaves a step daughter, Sheila Nicholson Gridley; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren all of Kansas.
He was predeceased by his brother, Alexander Peterson of Bethlehem; a stepdaughter, Sandy Stone; and three step-grandchildren all of Kansas.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, Kan. Burial followed in Hartford Cemetery.
