Virginia Loyer

NAUGATUCK — Virginia “Ginny” Loyer was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and great aunt. God, on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 (her 65th birthday), took her home. She was born June 24, 1955, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury.

She was employed at the Carmody, Torrance, Sandak & Hennessey Law Firm, where she was loved and greatly respected by all the staff. She was a resident of Naugatuck and a native of Waterbury.

She is survived by her loving family, Ronald Loyer (the love of her life) and her son, Ronald V. and his wife, Clara, and granddaughter, Raquel; her brother, Carmen Onalfo and wife, Aldona; her mother-in-law, Loretta Loyer; her brother-in-law, John Loyer and wife, Marion (Ginny’s lifelong friend); her sister-in-law, Donna Williams; nieces, Jackie Portanova and Michelle Sullivan; nephews, John Loyer, Joseph Loyer and Michael Williams and their families; several cousins from the Onalfo and DiPalma families, and many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Gloria Dipalma Onalfo; and brother-in-law, Keith Williams. Her love for her family was her priority. She was an avid reader and pet lover. Her pet dogs held a special place in her heart. Her current dog, Jameson, was always by her side. Ginny loved traveling. She especially loved cruises, visiting Las Vegas, Lake George, Saratoga N.Y., and Wildwood, N.J.

Family gatherings at her house and other family houses were one of her greatest joys, especially Thanksgiving when she prepared a spectacular feast and Fourth of July, where she and Ron hosted an annual party.

Reflecting on being in Ginny’s presence, all who came in contact with her will recall her beautiful smile, infections laugh and positive outlook on life.

The Loyer family wishes to thank Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care for the compassionate, caring handling of Ginny during her last days.
