NAUGATUCK — Victoria C. (Rynecki) Polonis, 86, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

Victoria was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Watervliet, N.Y., a daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Demicka) Rynecki. Her family moved to Naugatuck in 1935 and she was educated in local schools. She was employed at U.S. Rubber in the accounting office and then worked at Hayden Switch Co. until her retirement in 2001. She was active in the Uniroyal Women’s Club. She was an avid homemaker and cook. She was a good friend to her nieces and nephews and was active in their lives.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Kopp of Naugatuck; her nieces, Susan, Mary, Lynn, JoAnn, Judy, Phyllis, Dolores, Joan, Patricia, and Marilyn; her nephews, Paul, Robert, Bernard, Carl, William, Steven, John, Henry, and James. She was predeceased by her sisters, Tess, Jennie, Proxy, Helen; her brothers, Chester, Eddie, Henry, John, Steven, and Bernard; her nephews, Jack and Mark; and good friend, Nicholas Dobbins.

The family would like to thank, Dr. Dennis Huebner and the staff at Glendale Center for the care and compassion given to Victoria throughout her stay.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck for a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
