Obituary: Susan Evelyn (Booth) Hoyt

WATERBURY — Mrs. Susan Evelyn (Booth) Hoyt, 94, of Waterbury, passed away early Wednesday morning April 4, 2012 at the Mattatuck Health Care Facility. She was the wife of the late Francis A. Hoyt, who passed away in 2000 after 61 years of marriage.

Mrs. Hoyt was born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Seth and Katherine (Huber) Booth and had been a Naugatuck resident for most of her life, moving to Waterbury in 1998. She was educated in the Naugatuck school system and was a graduate of Salem School and Naugatuck High School. She retired in 1972 from Uniroyal-Footwear Div. with over 25 years of service. She was a was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Crusader Post # 1946, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Aux. She was very creative and enjoyed knitting, sewing, and needle work. Her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important part of her life.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the nurses and aides at the Mattatuck Health Care Facility, especially Lynne Winslow, for the care and love they extended to Susan while a patient there.

She leaves a daughter Susan Mascola of Waterbury; two sons, Richard F. Hoyt of Kennard, Texas and Lawrence A. Hoyt of Idalou, Texas; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Seth Boot, Roland Booth, William Booth, and Emily Hall.

A private funeral will be held at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. Burial will be in new Pine Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
