Shirley A. Mercurio

NAUGATUCK — Shirley A. Mercurio, 86, passed away, Friday, April 3, 2020, at River Glen Health care in Southbury. She was the wife of the late Peter Mercurio.

Mrs. Mercurio was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Erie, Pa., the daughter of the late Ralph and Mable (Erickson) Stokes. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident where she was most recently employed at Walmart.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Parent and her fiancé, Raul Barros, of Beacon Falls; her son, James Goetzinger and his wife, Laurie, of Albion, Pa.; her granddaughter, Emily Parent of Bolton; and her great-grandson, Colton Soderberg, also of Bolton, who affectionately referred to her as “Honey Gram.”

A celebration of her Mrs. Mercurio’s life will be held privately in Pennsylvania. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
