WATERTOWN — Robert James McEnerney Jr., 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020. He was loving husband of Hilda (Cortes) McEnerney and shared 40 beautiful years of marriage together.

Born in Waterbury on Nov. 19, 1952, he was son of the late Robert James and Marguerite McEnerney Sr. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Emily Waterworth and Raymond Garcia; and paternal grandparents, Michael and Margaret McEnerney of Wolcott.

Bobby, as everyone liked to call him, graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1970 and Quinnipiac University in 1972 with an associate degree in accounting, and a bachelor degree in marketing in 1978. He was employed at Radio Shack for many years as store manager, earning numerous awards through Tandy Corporation.

He enjoyed working at Power Station as a disc jockey and volunteered at the Palace and Warner Theaters for several years. Bob enjoyed watching the Red Sox, caring for his pet dog, Luke, and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed taking day trips and vacations with his nieces and nephews. Bob will be remembered as a kind, humorous and devout husband.

Besides his loving wife, Hilda, he is survived by his sister, Colleen Delaney and her husband, Thomas, of Woodbury; his niece, Kelly and Matthew Hughes; and great-nephew, Brooks, nephew, Thomas and Kristen Delaney Jr. of West Hartford. Bobby will also be missed by close friend, Doug Condianni; mother-in-law, Rosa; and aunts, uncles, sisters; and brothers-in-law, David and Felix; and other nieces and nephews. Although Bobby and Hilda did not have any biological children, they lovingly helped raise Joey Lam as their own.

Private services will be held for the family and friends. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.
