SEYMOUR — Robert James Betts passed away on April 19, 2021, at his home in Seymour. He was born in Norwalk on May 24, 1966. He was the loving son of the late Thelma Bauer and Frank Betts.

Robert was highly involved in volunteering his time coaching softball teams such as the Angels, the Little Rascals, the Lancers, fall ball teams, clinics, and all-star teams at George J. Hummel Little League in Seymour for over a decade. He was a loving and devoted father a loyal husband, and just a very hardworking man. In his spare time, he loved to spend time out in the garden and you could always catch him on Sundays watching his favorite team the Steelers playing. Robert will be missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his stepfather, Gordon Bauer of Huntington; his wife, Sandy Parks Betts of Seymour; his two daughters, Danielle Parks of Seymour and Shelby Valentin of Meriden; his three grandchildren, Connor Christopher, Dante and Cooper Valentin; and is also survived by his siblings, Karen Betts of Naugatuck and Stephen Betts of Naugatuck.

Friends and relatives may attend a walk-through visitation on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Route 67, across from Klarides Village) from 1 until 2 p.m. Visitors will be asked to wear masks and adhere to social distancing requirements at all times. It is kindly asked that all visitors enter the funeral home through the rear door and exit through the front door after greeting the family to accommodate all guests. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Robert may be made to The Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield, through the funeral home.
