NAUGATUCK — Robert D. “Bob” Ranno, 65, of Naugatuck, entered into a peaceful rest on Dec. 30, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Sally A. Ranno for 42 years.

Mr. Ranno was born on Sept. 22, 1947 in Derby. He was the son of Peter Ranno, Sr. and Roberta Ranno of Ansonia. Bob had recently retired from YoFarm Yogurt after 14 years of service.

Bob will be remembered for his long-time devotion to The Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA). He sang with many Connecticut choruses and quartets. Among them are Derby Sons of Harmony, Waterbury/Derby Valley Chords Men, Connecticut Yankee Chorus, and Manchester Silky City Chorus. He was the Director of Waterbury/Derby Chorus for many years and most recently directed Connecticut Yankee Chorus. Bob also graced the Barbershop Harmony International Stage with two quartets, New England District Champion Seventh Street Singers in 1977 and Free N’ Easy in 1987. He also sang tenor for the Sound Syndicate, Unexpected Pleasure, Free N’ Easy, Soundwave, Clubhouse Rules with his son, Bryan Ranno, and lastly For the Fun of it. Many of those with his best friend, Christopher Hall.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, Sally, Bob leaves his eldest son, David G. Ranno and his wife, Erica Ranno of Naugatuck; and his son Bryan P. Ranno and significant other, Nicole Lombardi of Medford, N.J. Bob “Grampy” also leaves the light of his life, Tyler D. Ranno. Bob also leaves a sister, Beverly Tidmarsh of Ansonia; a brother, Peter Ranno, Jr. of Pennsylvania; and predeceased by sister, Elizabeth Murray.

A memorial service celebrating his life, with Barbershop singing and family will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
