NAUGATUCK — Richard Joseph Clinton, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020.

Richard was born in Bridgeport on March 22, 1967. He was the son of William and the late Patricia Ann Hughes. He grew up in Naugatuck and was a 1985 graduate of Naugatuck High School.

Richard worked for Fiserv in Wallingford for many years, after which he opened his own business, Powerwashing Plus. Richard was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Boston Red Sox with his friends.

He found his greatest joy in life spending time with his family and his dog, Buddy. Richard, known as “Pop-Pop,” loved to take his daughter and granddaughter to Quassy Amusement Park on the weekends every summer.

Besides his father, Richard leaves his sister, brother-in-law and niece, Christine (Clinton), James and Jenna Janiszcak; his brother, William Hughes Jr.; his beloved daughter, Rachael Clinton; and his precious granddaughter, Skyler Clinton, who he treasured with his whole heart. He also leaves an uncle, many aunts, cousins and life-long friends. He was predeceased by many loving family members.

Richard’s family will honor his life privately at this time but will hold a mass in the future. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, is assisting the family with all arrangements.
