PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Richard E. (Dick) Campbell, 82, died Aug. 10, 2012 in Port Orange, Fla. He lived in Daytona Beach, Fla., for 19 years. Born in Winooski, Vt., on Oct. 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Egide and Laurette (Delorme) Campbell, and husband of Theresa (Audet) Campbell for 60 years.

He moved his family from Vermont to Naugatuck, and he eventually retired from the Naugatuck Daily News where he was production manager for many years. Dick was a man who enjoyed life, was a loving father, and great provider to his family. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 12569 and was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve.

He is survived by his children, Anthony (Tony) and his wife Cheryl, Bruce, Christopher and his wife Diane, Diane Bailey and her husband Ed, Ellen, Frederick, Gayle Torto, Ian Michael and his wife Brynn, Judy Soukup and her husband Kevin, Kathleen Sebaeta, Natasha, Jessica Saye and her husband Brian, James, Arianna, Andrea Weatherspoon and her husband Sharell, Josh, Jonathan, and Stephanie. Dick is also survived by his brothers Don and wife Yvonne, Norman and his wife Ann, Walter and his wife Pat, and his sister Jeannine and her husband Ralph. He was a proud grandfather of 36 and great-grandfather of 15.

He was predeceased by his son, Howard and sister, Elaine Hier.

A funeral mass in his honor was held on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette St., Port Orange, FL 32127. Arrangements were handled by the Cardwell Funeral Home.
