Reuben Irizarry

NAUGATUCK — Reuben Irizarry, 59, husband of Anna Maria Teixeira, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 15, 2021, at Waterbury Hospital.

Born in Waterbury on July 30, 1961, he was the son of Felix and Josefa (DeJesus) Irizarry. He was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck, and was currently working at Albea Manufacturing in Watertown. Reuben was a gifted welder and had taught at Kaynor Technical School for several years. He enjoyed music, dancing, trips to the casino and riding his Harley. He was a member of the RPMC. Reuben loved all sports and was proud of coaching his grandsons in Union City Little League baseball.

Above all, he cherished his two grandsons and enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Anna, Reuben leaves his daughters, Jamie Irizarry and her husband, John Morales, and Tiffany Cardoso, all of Naugatuck; his grandsons, Jayden and Jordan Morales; his siblings, Nelson Irizarry of Florida, Genoveva Irizarry, Minerva Colon and Mirian Lugo, all of Waterbury, and Maritza Bookless of Naugatuck; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by his siblings, Felix and Isaias Irizarry, Carmen Garcia and Olga Iris Irizarry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Facial coverings and social distancing guidelines will be required at all of the services. Walk-through visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck.
