BEACON FALLS — Raymond E. Howe, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the VITAS Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. He was husband of the late Winifred (Witkoski) Howe and devoted father to his children.

Mr. Howe was born on Aug. 23, 1928 in Bethany son of the late William and Edith (Norton) Howe. He had lived most of his life in Beacon Falls, and he retired from the Beacon Falls town crew after 30 years of service. Ray was a member of the Beacon Hose Company No. 1 fire department and volunteer ambulance for over 30 years and a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and helping his neighbors. Ray will be remembered as a very generous and giving person.

He leaves his two sons, Raymond W. Howe and his wife Linda of Richlands, N.C., and David Howe and his wife Pamela of Naugatuck; his daughter, Kathleen (Howe) Minervini of Oakville; his sister, Jean Plagesse of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Robert, Howard, William, Penny, Tammy, Lynda, and Ann Marie Minervini; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Howe was predeceased by two brothers, William and George Howe of Beacon Falls; and his sister Elizabeth Daddona of Naugatuck.

The Howe family wishes to thank the staff at the Abbott Terrace Nursing Home, especially the workers from 2 West.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday June 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
