NAUGATUCK — Ramona R. Spallone, 85, of Naugatuck, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 surrounded by family and the wonderful staff of Paradigm Health Care in Prospect.

Ramona was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Edgewater Park, N.Y., to Michael and Nellie (Zguzenski) Novak. Ramona is predeceased by her husband Dominic Spallone, who she married on May 23, 1953. Her family of five children include, Scott Spallone of Naugatuck, Kathryn Spallone and Lee Kennedy of Oakville, Michael and Nancy Spallone of Naugatuck, Robert Spallone of Naugatuck, and Regina Spallone and Tom Hartmann of Silver Spring, Md. Her grandchildren are Kaitlin and Michael Spallone, of Naugatuck. She is predeceased by her sister, Nila Plocha of Union City. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church in Union City where she was a member of the choir in her younger days. She was active in St Hedwig’s School and was instrumental in forming the hot lunch program for the children there. At Paradigm, she enjoyed many recreational activities. She was an artist with a keen eye for color, and was accomplished in water colors, ceramics and flower arranging.

Her funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 9:45 a.m. from Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 N. Main St., Naugatuck, to St Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Union City, for a mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m.
