Peter W. Kozak
Peter W. Kozak entered into eternal rest on Feb. 23 at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford. Peter was born in Ansonia on June 8, 1925, son of the late Michael and Anna (Tener) Kozak. He was the widow of Victoria (Bomba) Kozak. He lived in Derby for the past 42 years and in Seymour and Ansonia prior to that.

Peter served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1946. He served in WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and participated in action against the enemy on Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. He was wounded in action on Saipan and received the Purple Heart.
Peter worked for many years as a flight mechanic for Sikorsky Aircraft before retiring in 1978. He also worked at Chippy’s Garage. After retirement, hobbies included collecting, buying and selling antiques at flea markets and traveling to Florida and Pennsylvania.

He is survived by a sister, Lillian Tall of Shelton, and two brothers Franklin Kozak of Englewood, Fla. and George Kozak of Ansonia. He was predeceased by a brother William Kozak.

He leaves six daughters: Catherine Kozak of Ansonia, Joan Arbusto of Southbury, Virginia Russo of Derby, Patricia Oczkowski of Oxford, Mary Ellen Pec and Donna Lynch both of Prospect. He has 14 grandchildren: Denise (Arbusto) Shriver, Frederick Arbusto, Philip Russo III, Bethany (Russo) Seymour, Joshua, Sarah, David and Elijah Russo, Matthew and Lukas Oczkowski, Michael and Stephen Pec, Kelly and Megan Lynch.

He also has three great-grandchildren, Caiden Shriver, Brooklyn Russo and Philip J. Russo IV.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. Interment with military honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
