GOSHEN — Peter Rotatori, Jr., 77, formerly of Naugatuck passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Michelle (Deleppo) Rotatori.

Peter was born on Aug. 29, 1935 in Naugatuck, a son of the late Pietro and Carmella Rotatori. He was raised in Naugatuck the son of Italian immigrant parents who came through Ellis Island, New York City. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, Fairfield University and Fordham Law School, where he was secretary of his class and was a member of the Moot Court Board. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces, having served in the Army National Guard and United States Army Reserve. He had a distinguished career as a lawyer for over 50 years. He began his career as a law clerk in the Waterbury Superior Court, then served as a special public defender at the Waterbury Superior Court, also served as general counsel to the Connecticut State Development Commission in 1969. Then, after founding his own private practice in Naugatuck, he was appointed corporation counsel, where he served for more than a decade. He also was a member and an executive director of the Connecticut Association of Municipal Attorneys, was the executive director and general counsel of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America. He was past vice chairman of the Democratic Town Committee, delegate to the 1976 Democratic National Convention, served on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross in Naugatuck. He was the former vice president and member of the Board of Directors for the Knights of Columbus in Naugatuck and member of the Board of Finance and Charter Revision Commission for the borough also. Later, a resident of Goshen he was elected justice of the peace and was a parishioner of St. Thomas of Villanova in Goshen.

Besides his wife, Michelle of 50 years he is survived by one daughter, Carla Barbieri; two sons, Mark P. Rotatori Esq., and Peter Rotatori III Esq.; one sister, Marie Swiencicki, two brothers; Richard Rotatori, and Anthony Rotatori. He will also be missed by four grandchildren, J.P. Rotatori, Thomas Rotatori and Kellen Rotatori of River Forest, Ill. and Grace Elizabeth Rotatori of Southbury.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck at 10 a.m. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
