NAUGATUCK — Paul Arthur Williams, 76, formerly of Ash Road, Naugatuck, passed away on April 2, 2013 after a long illness.

He was born in 1937 in Waterbury to the late Edward and Alice (Heroux) Williams. A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Ann (Brunelle) Williams.

He also leaves their children, Joyce (wife of Greg Lyon, Ypsilanti, Mich.), Paul, Andy and Cathy Durante (wife of Kevin Durante, Naugatuck) and four grandchildren.

A Naugatuck High graduate, Paul worked at Uniroyal Chemical, starting in the mail room in 1956 and moving up to lab technician until he retired in 1997. He also served eight years in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Paul enjoyed gardening and oil painting. He was well read, staying up to date on current events through books, TV, and news magazines. He loved discussing politics.

A Catholic mass will be said in his honor on Saturday, April 6 at 9 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck is in charge of the arrangements.
