NAUGATUCK — Nancy (Aquavia) Westberg, 70, of Naugatuck, passed away at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, on Jan. 12, 2021. She was the wife of the late Daniel Westberg.

Nancy was born on Feb. 7, 1950, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Joseph (Doc) and Ann (Scheffts) Aquavia. She graduated from Naugatuck High School and attended Western Connecticut State, majoring in music. A superb classical pianist, Nancy taught piano at Chase Collegiate School and Nutmeg Conservatory as well as private lessons for over four decades. She also enjoyed her long-time memberships with the Music Teachers National Association and Connecticut State Music Teachers Association.

First and foremost, Nancy cherished her family. She was so active and enthusiastic about everything — her flowers, reading, gardening, friends and her home. Nancy loved attending concerts everywhere, particularly at Tanglewood and Carnegie Hall. She enjoyed many road trips, and loved Vermont, which was a favorite yearly outing with her sisters. Devoted to her faith for 48 years, she also loved teaching the Bible and was a member of the Woodbury Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Nancy leaves a son, her pride and joy, Eric Aquavia of Naugatuck; five sisters, Dolores Pascale and her husband, Don, of Boynton Beach, Fla., Joanne and Rosemary Aquavia of Naugatuck, Shirley Burrell and her husband, Ray, of Naugatuck, and Kathy Boettner and her husband, Al, of Southbury; stepchildren, Michelle Westberg of Waterford, Scott Westberg of Branford, and the late Daniel Westberg Jr.; and 11 nieces and nephews and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Louis Aquavia Jr.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring. The Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck has been entrusted with all arrangements.
