Obit-CandlePROSPECT — Mildred (Stevens) Magnusen, widow of Gus Magnusen, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at Paradigm Health Care Center in Prospect after a long illness.

Mrs. Magnusen was born in Lithuania, a daughter of the late Anthony and Justina Stevens. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and had worked at the New York Athletic Club in New York City for many years.

Mrs. Magnusen is survived by a sister-in-law, Angie Stevens of Oakville, nieces Carol Conant of Prospect, Enid Caouette of Provincetown, Mass., Karen Carew of Oakville and Mary Armstrong of Florida; nephews, Donald Latozas of Terryville, John Stevens of Oakville and Joseph Stevens of Norman, Okla., and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was under the loving care of her grandniece Denise Van Delft for several years.

Mrs. Magnusen was predeceased by brothers, Alexander, Joseph and John Stevens and sisters, Anna Slekaitis and Anna Latozas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Committal services and burial will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at Mountain Grove Cemetery, 83-15 Kew Gardens Road, Kew Gardens, NY 11415. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
