PROSPECT — Michael L. Kolodziej Jr., 57, of Talmadge Hill Road, died Monday, July 9 2013 at Meridian Manor Health Care Center in Waterbury after a brief but albeit extremely brave battle with cancer. He was the widower of Marjorie “Marnie” (Casper) Kolodziej.

Michael was born Oct. 16 1955 in Waterbury, the son of the late Michael L. and Doris (White) Kolodziej Jr. He attended Naugatuck schools and worked at Dunham Craft for over 30 years, Bar Work manufacturing for over 10 years and most recently, Electric Cable Compounds. He was a die hard Boston Red Sox fan, a NY Giants fan and a Harley Davidson enthusiast. Michael was always happiest while spending time with his wife, and children taking summer camping trips and making frequent trips to Fenway Park. Most recently he enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his grandchildren and children.

Among his survivors are his son, Michael Robert Kolodziej and his wife Jean (Tardy) of Thomaston; his son, Jason Michael Kolodziej and his fiancée Stephanie Lusas of Prospect; his daughter, Laurie Kolodziej Anderson and her husband Robert Anderson, Jr., of Boston; his sisters, Wanda Burke of Naugatuck, Laura Krajewski of Naugatuck and his twin sister, Linda Zeranski of Naugatuck; his grandchildren, Emma, Liam, and Patrick as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Viola Rek.

Funeral services for Mr. Kolodziej will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from Eastside Memorial, A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 1987 East Main St. at Southmayd Road, Waterbury to Saint Anthony’s Church, Route 68 and Route 69, Prospect to celebrate a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Rites of committal will follow in Saint James Cemetery Naugatuck. Relatives and friends may visit with Michael’s family at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
