NAUGATUCK — MaryEllen T. (Stoponaitis) Marques, 51, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 21, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Julio P. Marques Jr.
MaryEllen was born on Nov. 10, 1960 in Waterbury and was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Gotlibowski) Steponaitis. MaryEllen was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. She went on to earn her bachelor degree from Southern Connecticut State University, and a masters degree in education from Central Connecticut State University. She was kindergarten teacher at Maple Hill School in Naugatuck, where she taught since the school opened its doors. MaryEllen was an avid golfer and a member of Watertown Golf Club. She enjoyed spending time with the people she loved the most and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Besides her husband of 29 years, she leaves a daughter, Lauren and a son, Christopher, both of Naugatuck. She leaves a brother, Douglas and his wife Barbara Steponaitis of Kensington,; a mother-in-law, Dolores and her husband Norman Bouffard of Seminole, Fla. She also leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Mary Alice Sullivan and leaves several nieces and nephews.
MaryEllen was predeceased by her sister, Joan Kaiser and her father-in-law, Julio P. Marques Sr.
MaryEllen’s funeral will be held on Thursday morning July 26, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck at 10 a.m. All are asked to meet directly at the church. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
