MANCHESTER/NAUGATUCK — Mary “Wendy” Stephanie (Wendelowski) Oldakowski, 92, of 7 Villa Louisa Road, Manchester, died Monday, May 14, 2012, after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Ansonia, daughter of Marceli and Mariana (Maliszewski) Wendelowski. She and her late husband, Vincent W. Oldakowski, married and raised their family in Naugatuck. For many years she worked as a department secretary at Southbury Training School, a job she greatly enjoyed.
Upon her husband’s death in 1988, she made her home in Manchester with her daughter Donna and son-in-law Chris Powell and helped raise her beloved granddaughter, Stephanie Mary Powell. She also leaves three other loving children and their spouses, son Robert and Luis Mendoza of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter Janice and Howard Scholl of New Haven; and daughter Marsha and John Butler of Santa Fe, N.M.; as well as many dear friends and adored relatives.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 45 Ludlow Road, Manchester. There are no calling hours.
