Mary Elizabeth (Flaherty) Rodman

NAUGATUCK — Mary Elizabeth (Flaherty) Rodman, 78, wife of Charles E. Rodman, died peacefully at her home, on June 26, 2020, surrounded by her loving family and friends in Naugatuck.

Mary was born in Waterbury on Aug. 29, 1941, daughter of the late M. Joseph and Mary (Butler) Flaherty. She attended local schools: Notre Dame Academy, Waterbury Catholic High and Crosby High School. Mary also attended Mattatuck Community College. Mary was a full-time employee of Stop & Shop, retiring after more than 30 years.

Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to travel the world with her family and close friends. Mary also enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Charles, Mary is also survived by her daughter, Elaine Matt and her husband, Richard; son, Carl Rodman and fiancée, Kristen Lambert; son, Michael Rodman and his wife, Lisa. Mary also leaves behind the joys of her life her eight grandchildren, Katie, Anton and Marcus Matt, Kelsey and Allison Rodman, Luciana Rose, Michael and Charles Rodman.

Mary also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, along with her in-laws, Frank Simpson, Judith Flaherty and Marie and John Simpson.

Mary was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Joanne Simpson; and brothers, Michael and Thomas Flaherty.

All services will be private, and there are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
