REIDSVILLE, N.N. — Mary Ann “Poochie” Minervino Olsen, 60, beloved wife of Ronald P. Olsen of Reidsville, N.C., formerly of Stratford, died June 5, 2012 at Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro, N.C.

Born in Bridgeport on March 1, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Napolitano Minervino. Mrs. Olsen was a 1969 graduate of Stratford High School, the National Academy of Hairdressing as well as massage therapy school; she was a longtime Stratford resident before moving to North Carolina 19 years ago. She worked as a secretary for the AC Corporation (Hasten System) for 19 years, until the time of her illness. Mrs. Olsen had many diverse interests ranging from horses, to classic cars to arts and crafts. Her passion was caring for animals; she enjoyed breeding Chihuahuas, and was involved with many equine events including caring for her horse. An outgoing and friendly person, she could carry on conversations with total strangers due to her many interests and personality.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted brother, Alfred Minervino and his wife Mary Anne; niece, Marisa Lavoie and her husband, Michael; great-niece Olivia Lavoie and great-nephew, Ethan Lavoie, all of Prospect.

Family and friends may call on Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m.
