NAUGATUCK — Mark Anthony Simoes, 40, died unexpectedly Aug. 25, 2021, at his home.

Mark was born July 24, 1981, in Waterbury, a son of Ana (Portijo) Simoes and the late Antonio C. Simoes. Mark was raised in Naugatuck, where he attended local schools. Mark attended Sacred Heart University and Western Connecticut State University, and for the past five years, Mark worked as a residential counselor at Self, Inc.

Mark was passionate about working on his music and he enjoyed collaborating with others on new musical pursuits. He loved spending time with his family, especially his cherished niece and nephew.

In addition to his loving mother, Ana Simoes of Naugatuck, Mark is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Carlos and Laura Simoes, and his beloved niece and nephew, Chloe and Tyler Simoes, all of Thomaston; his long-time companion, Lisa Porteses; and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 9 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please meet at church. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
