NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Margaret Patricia (Maxwell) Szczesiul passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 6 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Margaret was born in Derby on Dec. 2, 1923 daughter of the late Percy and Margaret Maxwell and lived most of her life in Naugatuck.
She was employed for many years at Risdon Manufacturing. Patsy, as she was known, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved collecting wildflowers, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She was extremely proud of all her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Szczesiul; her son, James and her brothers David, James and Vernon Maxwell. She leaves behind her son Timothy and his wife Audrey, her son Terrence and his wife Diane, with whom she made her home, and her daughter-in-law Mary Margaret. She will also be missed by her grandsons, Shawn, Brian (Johanna), Mark (Amanda), Christopher (Kara), Patrick and Kurtis Szczesiul, and her great-grandchildren Devin, Braeden and Addison Szczesiul. She also leaves her beloved sister, Theresa Maxwell; special nieces, Geri Gribinis and Sharon Milam,; in-laws, Joseph Szczesiul, Francis Szczesiul, Berniece Pruchnicki, Ceil Humphries, Charles and Rita Starziski, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express its thanks to Dr. Ralph Tremaglio and the nursing staff of O’Brien 4—St. Mary’s Hospital. Our very deepest appreciation and thanks go to Claudette Briere, her home health aide, for the care, compassion and kindness she provided Pat.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
