NAUGATUCK — Mr. Marcel J. Laliberte, 77, of Cherry Street Ext., Naugatuck, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Jane (Kruse) Laliberte.

Mr. Laliberte was born in Waterbury on Nov. 2, 1934, a son of the late Raoul and Maria (Cote) Laliberte. He was a Naugatuck resident for 44 years and retired as purchasing agent from Ansonia Copper & Brass after 50 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, playing cards, and feeding the birds.

Besides his wife of 56 years, he leaves three sons, Mark Laliberte and his wife Terri of Thomaston, Kenneth Laliberte of Plymouth, Jeffrey Laliberte of Naugatuck; two daughters, Denise Guerrera and her husband Charles of Oakville, Kimberly Laliberte of Thomaston; five sisters, Sister Fernande Marie Laliberte DHS of Putnam, Sister Gertrude Marie Laliberte DHS of Hartford, Muriel Carpentier of Waterbury, Aldea Santoro of Prospect, Alice Laliberte of Waterbury; five grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Laliberte, Adrianna, Ella, and Nathan Guerrera; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Henry, and Germaine Laliberte; two sisters, Laurianne Sharkis, and Gertrude Rainville.

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck for a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
