Obit-CandleNAUGATUCK — Mabel B. Harper passed away at the Lutheran Home of Southbury on Aug. 30, 2013. Mabel was born on Jan. 21, 1918 in Naugatuck. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Bertha (Durrette) Harper.

She was a dedicated, hard working Uniroyal employee for 30 plus years and instilled in her daughter an unmatched work ethic.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda, and her son-in-law Russell Andrew of Naugatuck. She also leaves three grandchildren to cherish her memory, Russell Andrew Jr., his wife Laurie and their four children, Russell III, Brooke, Megan and Carly; Amy Andrew DeLardi, her husband Peter and their two children, Jacob and Skylar; Katie Andrew DePoto, her husband Anthony and their daughter, Cora. She also leaves a sister, Lucille Baummer; a brother, Robert Harper both of Naugatuck and a brother, Joseph Harper of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

Besides enjoying her family, Mabel enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping, knitting and sewing. She resided with her daughter for over 30 years and then moved to the Lutheran Home of Southbury for the last four and a half years of her life. While there she was treated with the greatest care and was loved by the entire staff, who enjoyed her fun and feisty interaction with them. Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to this wonderful community.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. at the Lutheran Home of Southbury, 90 Main St. North. All are welcome to join in the celebration of Mabel’s life. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Buckmiller Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck is in care of arrangements.
