OXFORD — Loretta A. Sharpe, 73, of Oxford, died peacefully, Dec. 8, 2013 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Bridgeport on Sept. 25, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Asher and Margaret Whalen Sharpe.

Ms. Sharpe was a graduate of Bassick High School, a long-time resident of Beacon Falls and Oxford, and worked as a book keeper for the Kurt Lee Products Co. of Oxford for over 23 years, retiring in 2006. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, a member of the Oxford Senior Center and a volunteer for the Seymour-Oxford Food Bank.

Ms. Sharpe enjoyed her family, friends and being with her special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her devoted brothers, Robert J. Sharpe and his wife, Lesley of Newtown and John M. Sharpe, Sr. and his wife, Judith of Milford; and sister-in-law, Martha Sharpe of Milford. Ms. Sharpe was predeceased by a brother, Ralph D. Sharpe and a nephew and godson, John M. Sharpe, Jr.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Thursday, Dec.12, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m.
