BEACON FALLS — Livia S.Keith, 83, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the VITAS Hospice Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family.

Livia was born on Nov. 17, 1928, in Waterbury, and was the daughter of the late Rocco and Antoinette (Zollo) Sabia. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked for Teri Travel as a travel consultant and tour guide until her retirement. She was a past Master of Rock Rimmon Grange, past president of St. Michael’s Lady’s Guild, and former organist at St. Michael’s Church for 25 years. She was a member of the Beacon Falls and Naugatuck senior centers. Livia enjoyed traveling and bingo and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UConn women’s basketball team. She became Beacon Falls’ first Christmas Mayor and was known to many as Mom and Nona.

She leaves one daughter, Francine Afonso and her husband Carlos of Naugatuck.

She is predeceased by one son, Thomas R. Keith, and a sister, Vinciann Follett.

Funeral services for Livia were held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls. Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, was in care of arrangements.
