Kenneth L. Ardry Sr.

BEACON FALLS — Mr. Kenneth L. “Sage” “Pappy” “Umpa” Ardry, Sr., 81, of Beacon Falls, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Claire E. (Litke) Ardry for 58 years.

Mr. Ardry was born in Williamsport, Pa. on June 3, 1931 a son of the late Frederick and Elva (Rowe) Ardry. He retired after 30 years of service from the United Parcel Service. Mr. Ardry was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Beacon Falls and an active member of the Winnebago Club. He often traveled in the RV to Florida, to the West Coast to visit his sons and many rallies. Mr. Ardry enjoyed working in his shed, playing cards, spending time with his family and was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.

Mr. Ardry was a U. S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War era and was a member of the American Legion in Beacon Falls.

Besides his loving wife, Mr. Ardry is survived by three daughters, Charlene Straznitskas and her husband George of Naugatuck, Cindy Fitzmaurice and her husband William of Hamden and Eileen Lauer and her husband John of Naugatuck; three sons, Kenneth Ardry Jr. and his wife Laura of Santa Barbara, Calif., Richard Ardry and his wife Michelle of Everett, Wash., and Michael Ardry and his partner Michele Savoir of Wolcott; three sisters, Betty Guild of Southington, Donna Salerno of Prospect, and Barbara Camera of Wallingford; two brothers, James Ardry of Beacon Falls and Ronald Ardry of Naugatuck; nine grandchildren, Melissa, Sarah and Billy Fitzmaurice, Travis, Cody, Lindsay and Anne Ardry and Hannah and Sydney Lauer and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ardry was predeceased by his brother, Fred “Bub” Ardry and sisters, Dorothy “Sissy” Szczoczarz and Shirley “Weezie” Buckles.

Mr. Ardry’s family would like to sincerely thank MaryJolene, Stephanie and Justin from VITAS Innovative Hospice Care in Middlebury for the wonderful, compassionate care that they provided.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday July 8, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m.
