NAUGATUCK — Kenneth F. Charters, 55, was called home to play music for the Lord surrounded by his loving family May 11 at Waterbury Hospital.

 

“Kenny” was a native of Fairfield. He was predeceased by his mother Louise and his father Harold “Chick” Charters.

He leaves his adoring wife and Sally Farkas-Charters of Naugatuck where they made their home since 2004. Besides his best friend Sally, he is survived by a loving and devoted family of William and Marylou Verikas and their sons, his treasured nephew’s, and friends, Eric (mentee), Marc, Ryan and Chris Verikas. He also leaves his brother Larry Bourque and his wife Carol, nephew Corey and beloved niece Jody and their families.

Kenny’s life’s love other than his wife was his music, which he joyfully shared with his family at Hillside Covenant Church. He played for Hillside’s monthly community suppers and often provided special music for Sunday services. He was also prayer leader and in the choir. He is mostly noted for being one of the founders, lead singers and guitarists of the southern rock “Uncle Chick Band” followed by the “Full Circle Band.” He was a welcome addition to many guest performances with his contemporaries.

Kenny touched many lives and was surrounded with an amazing circle of friends. He gave so much pleasure to so many with his gift of music. He was a special man filled with compassion and an unfailing love of Jesus. He is and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service for Kenny will be held June 4, at 2 p.m. at Hillside Covenant Church, 100 Hillside Ave., Naugatuck. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall, where Kenny’s favorite music will be shared.
