Obituary: Kenneth A. Follett

BEACON FALLS/POPHAM BEACH, Maine — Kenneth A. Follett, 88, passed away Sept. 5, 2019, what would have been his 64th wedding anniversary to Vinci Ann (Sabia) Follett and the 17th anniversary of her passing; Ken went to join his Love.

Ken was born in Waterbury on Feb. 27, 1931 son of the late F. Lester and Audery (Noble) Follett. He grew up in Naugatuck, demonstrating a love of family, friends and working with horses; graduating from Naugy High in 1949. In 1955, he married Vinci Ann, and in 1961 they moved to Beacon Falls. In 1994, after 44 years, he retired from the First National grocery store chain, where he started as a bag boy and worked his way up to assistant manager. He was a member of the UFCWI Union.

Ken and his family spent time every summer in Popham, and for the last 25 years had been a full-time summer resident. Some even called him “The Mayor of Popham.” Ken and Vinci Ann also enjoyed their winter getaway in Englewood, Fla.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori Follett of Phippsburg, Maine; his brother, Donald Follett of Southbury; his cousin, Jan Murray of Popham Beach, who was more like a sister, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife and his sister, Audrey Burlette.

A memorial service was held at The Popham Chapel on Sept. 14. A graveside service will be held at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck on Oct. 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
