PROSPECT — Mrs. Karen A. (Mozdy) Kemp, 54, of Prospect, died Friday, Oct. 21, at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Kenneth J. Kemp.

Mrs. Kemp was born in Waterbury on Sept. 21, 1957, daughter of Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Mozdy and the late George W. Mozdy. She was employed as a certified school psychologist at Cromwell High School for seven years and then employed by the Region 15 School District, where she worked as a licensed professional school counselor for 21 years. Mrs. Kemp was a communicant of S.S. Peter and Paul Church in Waterbury where she also served as a Eucharistic minister. She was a member of the board of directors for the Southbury-Middlebury Youth and Family Services.

She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, earned a B.S. degree from Western Connecticut State University and her Master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University. As a loving wife and mother, she was active in her support of sport activities for her children.

Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Kemp is survived by a daughter, Jehna E. Kemp of Prospect; a son, Matthew M. Kemp of Prospect; a brother, Kevin G. Mozdy of Waterbury; and several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
