EAST HAVEN — Mrs. Josephine E. (Yvasauskas) Coffey, 96, formerly of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Branford Hills Nursing Home. She was the widow of James C. Coffey.

Mrs. Coffey was born in Beacon Falls on June 6, 1916, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Wailonis) Yvasauskas. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident. Josephine retired from Jay’s Beauty Salon in Waterbury after many years of service. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the Watertown Garden Club for many years.

She leaves her daughter, Judith D’Amato and her husband Andrew of Guilford; her two sisters, Anna Yvasauskas of East Haven and Stella Davidson of Monument, Colo.; her two grandchildren, Martin D’Amato and his wife Laura and Marguerite Honig and her husband Jim; her great grandson, Andrew Honig; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Grohs.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday April 29, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.
