SEYMOUR — Joseph Budnik, 90, of Seymour, beloved husband of the late Irene Selepec Budnik, died peacefully on April 30, 2019 at the Linden of Woodbridge, surrounded by his family.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept. 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Severin and Anna Yelenovsky Budnik. Mr. Budnik was a lifelong resident of Seymour and member of Three Saints Orthodox Church.

He was a graduate of Bullard-Havens Technical High School and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and member of the American Legion. He worked as a self-employed tool & die maker for many years, prior to his employment with Schick Safety Razor of Milford. Mr. Budnik was then employed with AVCO-Lycoming of Stratford, where he was the tool room foreman and worked as a lead programmer of the CNC department, until the time of his retirement in 1985.

Mr. Budnik was a motorcycle enthusiast, owning several bikes through the years including an original Indian and a Ducati. An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed boating, fishing and target shooting as a member of the Schick Pistol Team and the NRA.

Mr. Budnik is survived by his devoted children, Robert Budnik and his wife, Sheri, of Prospect, Daniel Budnik and his wife, Kate, of Southington, Eileen Sztuka and her husband, Edward, of Georgia, and Ellen Reichelt and her husband, Kevin, of Seymour; a sister, Helen Prohorik of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Ben Sztuka of Georgia, Tim and Josh Budnik of Southington, Kaleigh Pilat and her husband, Adam, of Southington, and Tatiana Belfiore and her husband, Joe, of Bristol; and a cherished great-granddaughter, Livv Pilat of Southington. In addition to his wife of 49 years, he was predeceased by a sister, Olga Chernecky-McGuinness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 10 a.m. directly at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Interment with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the service. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia, is in care of the arrangements.
