WOODBURY — John R. Swiderski, 88, of 19 Judson Ave., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Magas) Swiderski.

John was born in Watervliet, N.Y., on April 29, 1924, son of John J. and Viola (Gensicki) Swiderski. He was a resident of Woodbury for the past eight years and had also lived in Florida. Mr. Swiderski retired from Uniroyal in Oxford after many years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in World War II.

Besides his wife of 65 years, he leaves two sons, Richard Swiderski and his wife Sandy of Colorado, Roger Swiderski and his wife Leslie of Watertown; his daughter, Lorene Terry and her husband Alan of Naugatuck; five grandchildren, Katie Swiderski Jefferson and her husband T.J., Carrie Swiderski, Alan Terry, Jr. and his wife Monica, Michael Terry and his wife Laura, and Matthew Terry; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck is assisting the family with arrangements.
