John Halasik Jr.

WHITEFISH, Mont. — Mr. John Halasik, Jr., 91, formerly of Naugatuck passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 19, 2012. He was the widower of Doris (Boileau) Halasik.

Mr. Halasik was born on Feb. 15, 1921 in Naugatuck, son of the late John Halasik Sr. and Anna (Kostick) Halasik. After graduating from Naugatuck High School, he attended Bridgeport Trade School for three years. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after WWII Pearl Harbor invasion and was stationed in Oahu until the end of the war. He worked as a local mail carrier for 45 years, retiring from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990. He also worked part time at Ferre-Forme tool factory, his brother-in-laws’ business. He enjoyed cooking for friend and relatives, fishing at the family camp in Vermont, and, together with his wife, ballroom dancing with the Cha-Rum-Ba Club in Waterbury. Mr. Halasik was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the Congregational Church of Naugatuck. His charming smile and kind words will be well remembered.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Ernst of Naugatuck; niece Nancy Ernst Lundgren (Robert) of West Glacier, Mont., and grandnieces, Maria and Anna; nephew Thomas Boileau (Nancy) of Middlebury, and grandnephews Tom and Jason, and nephew David Rybinski (Kim) of Beacon Falls, and grand nephews Michael and Daniel.

He was predeceased by grandniece, Heather Rybinski.

A private graveside service with military honors was held at Grove Cemetery. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck was in charge of the arrangements.
