John G. Doback
NAUGATUCK — Mr. John G. Doback, 89, of Manners Avenue, died Saturday, May 7, at the West Haven Veterans Hospital after a brief illness. He was the widower of Stella “Cookie” (Sytnik) Doback.

John was born in Naugatuck on April 11, 1922 a son of the late Charles and Mary (Brenia) Doback. He was retired from the Uniroyal Footwear Division in Naugatuck where he worked as a mechanic for 30 years and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck. He was a World War II veteran and POW having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1946 in Naugatuck. He loved antique cars and operating heavy equipment and was an avid fan of polkas and country and western movies.

John is survived by two daughters: Joanne Comerford and her husband Robert of Las Vegas, Nev. and Suzanne Barabasz of Naugatuck, three brothers: Charles Doback, Sr., Andy Doback and Joseph Borsos all of Naugatuck, three grandchildren: Aaron Barabasz of Virginia, Renee Barabasz and Simone Barabasz, both of Naugatuck, one great granddaughter: Lia Morales and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers: Michael Doback, George Doback and Michael Borsos.

Graveside services and burial will be held on Wednesday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral, Home 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, is in charge of arrangements.
