NAUGATUCK — John Charles Kochanowski, a lifelong resident of Naugatuck, passed away on July 2, 2012 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was predeceased by his wife and soul mate, Margaret Kochanowski (née Macken), to whom he was married for 52 years.

At age 18, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Pinkney during World War II. Following the war, he worked at Risdon Manufacturing Company for the better part of 45 years before retiring in 1992. He was an avid fisherman up until the final year of his life, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family that he had devoted his life to.
